Press release – line up change

Narthen has a new member. We are pleased to announce that from September all performances will include the wonderful Jim Causley, six-time BBC Folk Awards Nominee, a voice to die for, great instrumentalist and a man with a side splitting sense of humour.

Why?
Our lovely colleague and pal Lester Simpson has decided to hang up his touring shoes and concentrate on local choral work.

What do we do?
Narthen performs wonderfully diverse material. Songs of pith and humour both accompanied and unaccompanied as well as joyous and earthy instrumentals. Jim will join us with the repertoire featured on our first album, Narthen (No Masters NMCD52). Alongside this, we are also working on some exciting new material.
Around Christmas, we will again be touring our seasonal performances – a mix of polyphonic four-part carols, from Yorkshire, Derbyshire and beyond with songs and music reflecting all aspects of the winter season.
When our debut album was released the band were described as ‘A New Supergroup’. Now with Jim Causley we intend to maintain that compliment.
